Wedding Ideas: How to Walk down the Aisle on a Tight Budget?

By: Mike Davis

Getting married does not only place legal restrictions on the couple, but helps in strengthening their bond as both try to work things for their marriage to last. Putting practical reasons aside, celebrating one's matrimony is a dream come true for any soon-to-be bride. Many couples delay the tying of the knot because of the associated cost of weddings. However, not many couples realize it that the lack of budget, which serves as an obstacle to their dream of walking down the aisle, can be easily surpassed given the right planning. The following are wedding ideas on how you can plan your exchange of vows to fit your tight budget:
Determine how much you can spend without sacrificing your other needs after the weeding. The exchange of vow is not the end to a beautiful fairy tale as many movies would make you believe. It is actually the start of a beautiful and exciting journey as a couple. Thus, despite the importance that society has placed on the exchange of vows, never be tempted to spend more than your means. The general rule is to take only a portion of your savings. Many couples have regretted their decision to splurge on their wedding and would have preferred that they invested in their honeymoon.
Weed out the non-essentials. List all the things you need for the wedding from the venue, attire, food, wedding favors, and many others. For this, you will need the help of friends who have tied the knot. When you have finished your list, make three columns. In one column try to decide whether each item is essential to the success of your wedding-that is, if your wedding will not push through if you don't have the item-and the reason why or why not. On the second column, you have to determine whether the item can be borrowed or not. The third column is for determining the cheapest alternatives should you have to spend for the item. For instance, food: first column, essential (important in mingling and thanking the guests who have contributed to the success of the relationship); second column, cannot be borrowed; third column: finger foods.
Decide where to get the manpower. This is one of the wedding ideas which will allow you to save a lot by obtaining the support of significant others. In addition, you will cherish your wedding more as it has brought the cooperative efforts of all those people who love you. One of the reasons why the cost of many weddings get out of hand is because couples obtain the service of professionals. Yes, things might be simpler and more organized, but you have to pay for the labor put in by these people. When you obtain the help of significant others, theirs will be a labor of love. For the food, you can get the help of a aunt who is well versed in culinary. For the wedding favors, you can ask a creative friend to take charge of the souvenirs and buy only the materials.
