The Law of Attraction and December 21, 2012

The law of attraction has become popularized within the last few years, in books and movies. But now, in the face of Doomsday predictions centered around December 21, 2001, the date the Mayan long count calendar ends, most people seem to be throwing talk of the law of attraction to the winds. Instead of filling themselves with images of the glorious future the world could have in the next cycle, they are focused on images of cataclysm, mega tsunamis and the destruction of life on the Earth.

Of course, this fear of doom and gloom is only part of the story, the big picture. Look at the small picture and you see just the opposite. Think of families about to have an important wedding celebration or child birth. At those moments, they want life to go on and on. They see life through rosy specs. Their personal happiness, at such moments, bends their life into a positive shape.

We see the same phenomena occurring in a patient with a cancer diagnosis. The Doctors say he has only so long to live, but his daughter is getting married a month or two after the expected end and somehow he survives. His personal will won out over the microscopic events taking place in his body.

We can see the same phenomena occurring in a cosmic way. A famous Bulgarian prophetess named Vanga made a number of strikingly accurate predictions throughout her life. She predicted that World War III would break out this past month. On top of that she made a series of extreme predictions about the coming millennia, which includes the sun fading, the development of substitute forms of energy production, and ultimately the destruction of the Earth. Through it all, however, at each stage of her prophecy, mankind finds a new way of surviving. Ultimately, according to Vanga, mankind will figure out how to leave the dying Earth and create viable space colonies.

A common theme found in all these scenarios is that complexity and negativity can develop when we look at the big picture of life. However, when we look at the small picture, at our network of loved ones, family, friends and happy times, our outlook often becomes positive.

Positivity is important because as experts in the science of the law of attraction have been teaching, optimism generates the expectation of a positive future. And this expectations is an actual force that works to create the good future we are expecting. The trick throughout all of life is to maintain a balance between the focus on day to day life and its requirements and the natural optimism that is generated by our enjoyment of life's happy moments,
