Taking a lock apart and looking at the inside of it will show you whether a lock is susceptible to bypassing rather than regular picking. It will show you the vulnerable parts of a lock that can be taken advantage of with methods like bypassing.

There are many techniques that can be learned to open different types of locks. Some methods involve specialised picks, bypass methods or specially designed keys. It was often difficult to find out these techniques without formal training as a locksmith but these days it is much esaier due to the internet. The internet makes it really straightforward for you to find out how to lock pick.
