New Baby Care-Tips for New Parents

By: Mike Davis

If you are a parent, you probably know how scary and challenging it is to care for a newborn. Newborns seem so soft and fragile and you have to know the proper way to care for them to prevent them from getting physically injured. Although you can ask for your mother or babysitter's help, it is still important that you know how to care for your own child. If you are an expectant parent and you want to learn some things on how to care for a newborn before you give birth, you should know some useful new baby care tips that every new parent should know.
These things will prepare you for what is coming in the next few months or weeks and will also help you alleviate any anxiety or nervousness that you might feel. Having the right information is very important especially when it comes to taking care of newborns. Here are some new baby care tips that you should learn about.
Feeding. You should understand that infants eat after every two or three hours. In the first few months, they only drink milk, either breast milk or formula milk. Breastfeeding is the better choice since it has a lot of benefits that your baby can still enjoy even when he is already a grown up. But if for some reason you do not have milk, you can always use formula milk. Make sure that the bottles and nipples are properly cleaned. Follow the instructions before feeding your baby with formula. Breastfed babies usually have loose yellowish poo while formula-fed babies have greenish poo.
Bathing and Hygiene. You re not required to fully bathe a newborn baby. You can give him a sponge bath using warm water and soft washcloth. To clean the area around the eyes, neck, behind the ears, and around the face, you should consider suing cotton balls soaked in warm water. You also have to clean the umbilical cord using cotton balls with alcohol.
Sleeping. Babies sleep most of the time. They sleep for three or four hours long. You can take advantage of these times to take care of other things or you can also take a rest. Remember that taking care of a newborn is actually much easier compared to taking care of a toddler. Caring for a toddler is physically tiring. Take advantage of the quiet times while you can.
Love and Care. You should also give your baby the right kind of love that they need. Always touch your baby gently and speak to him in soft and tender voice. Hold your baby gently and always make him feel loved and well-taken care of. A baby who knows and feels that he is loved by the people around him will most likely grow up to be a good individual.
These are basic new baby care tips that you should know as a parent. You will learn a lot more as the time that you spend with your newborn goes by.
