Mens Leather Jackets

In the 1820’s an article of clothing known as the English topcoat became an important change in the apparel of smart men and to which mens leather coats owe their fame.

From the trench style to leather jackets, these garments maintain their recognition with men all over the world. Prices have changed from five to twenty dollars in the 1800’s to more than a thousand dollars at present for a fashionable custom garment.

These days men have a option of either a single breasted or double breasted. Jackets for men come in varied leathers such as lambskin, buckskin, and kidskin to name a few. Not only can he opt from a range of designs and finishes, but he may also desire to go vintage, traditional, or modern.

This variety of garment has always been and is still considered the apparel of sophistication and is still an influential part of the attire of the man that wishes to impress.

For a brief while between the eighteen hundreds and the early nineteen hundreds there was a down turn in the popularity of the mens leather coats. In spite of this with the advent of the automobile it had its resurrection. The overcoat, boots, goggles, scarf and gloves became the standard apparel for the man that owned an automobile. This outfit was the precursor of today’s motorcycle jacket.

Hollywood did not misuse time and jumped on the band wagon having their good guys and evil guys alike all outfitted in leather.

In a little while more new designs appeared on the scene, with styles such as pea coats, motorcycle jackets, flight jackets and more.

History and Hollywood testify that mens leather coats were worn by heroes on the battle fields and on the screen.
