London 2012 Olympics may pay more contained in the safety costs

Extra safekeeping could see the whole set of cost of the London 2012 Olympics rise by up to £180m ($280.6m), but organisers say many of the event will meet its £9.3bn budget.

Inside the its latest financial report, the whole Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) said many of the anticipated final cost was set to rise by an extra £21m.

But a further £110m to £160m could be spent on securing all the Olympic Park and venues while in the Games and afterwards.

All the extra cash will come in the remaining £1.25bn contingency fund.

It is also hoped to find savings elsewhere to help pay generally the extra security costs.

Extra responsibility

"As we enter the many busiest and most exciting phase on the Olympic project so far, this report shows we have been still on time and still on budget," Olympics minister Tessa Jowell said on the a statement.

Of the wake along the government review, all the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) contain been given additional responsibility for security and operations between 2011 and 2013.

These extra refuge tasks will cover pre-games testing, most of the period when the whole set of games have been to become apprehended, and the whole immediate legacy period after most of the games.
