Important Precautions When Using a Steam Shower

By: Norman Kirby

Using a steam shower can surely be a refreshing experience. Maybe, after a hard day s work, all you can think about is getting under that steamy shower and forgetting about the busy day in the office. Nothing is really wrong with this simple form of indulgence. However, it would be wise to take some precautions, too, before getting a dose of it. Below are some protective measures that can make your shower experience a lot safer.
Food
Do not go under the steamy shower with an empty stomach. This can cause your blood sugars to drop and instead of feeling refreshed and revitalized, you may end up feeling faint, exhausted, and weak.
Now, just as you shouldn't bathe in an empty stomach, you should neither do so when you are full. Steam showering on a full tummy may confuse your bodily functions. You see, during this time, your blood, oxygen, and water are busy over digesting what you just ate. These same components are what keep your body cool especially during hot showers. The best thing to do is have a light snack before showering so your bodily functions can work just right.
Water
It is also necessary that you hydrate yourself before getting into the steam shower. You see, the steam can make you sweat. Sweating, as you already know, lowers the water level of the body. Water deficiency can result in headaches and faintness. You have to ensure that you are properly hydrated before having a hot shower. Drink at least a glass of cool water before it.
Heat
If you have never gotten into a steamy shower before, you should know that it is very $: BNdp>-@-B-p-r-t---J ûòòìè {hah1 h1>* hWW>*h1hWW>*hWW

If it is you first time, do not stay in the shower too long. Although the experience can be thrilling, you should not push too hard. Stay in the shower only as long as your body is still very comfortable. When you feel like it s time to stop, then you should do just that.
Jewels and Accessories
The steam in the shower can go as high as 111 F (44 C) or more. This heat range can cause metallic jewels to heat up and may burn your skin. Logically, you should remove them before getting into the shower to ensure that no accident of that sort would happen. The same thing goes with contact lenses. They may react differently with too much heat and may irritate your eyes. To prevent this possibility, you should also remove your contact lenses and keep them in a safe container as you take a shower.
Steam Outlet
A steam shower has a steam outlet just like a kettle and other heating appliance. Basically, water is boiled and then deposited into the shower through a generator. As steam is hotter than boiling water, you should avoid getting in contact with the steam outlet during its operation.
