History of Kalamazoo

The Michigan city of Kalamazoo was initially coined by Native Americans. However, the precise history of the city's name is uncertain. There are some that suppose the city's moniker means "the mirage of reflecting river," as other folks say it is interpreted as bubbling or boiling water.

Even as the mucklands have dried up and celery is no longer a key significant local crop, there still are new industries that have established themselves. Stryker is a global leader in making medical equipment. About of the greatest beer ever is made at Bell’s Brewery. A.M. Todd Company remains the world's leading refiner of mint oil. Kalamazoo's devotion to teaching is obvious in prominent Kalamazoo College and the larger school, Western Michigan University, that was established in 1903.
