Guaranteed Targeted Website Traffic? Huh?

By: Alun Maxwell

Is guaranteed targeted website traffic really guaranteed? Not if you discount the ‘you’ factor. Every online marketer wants targeted website traffic in spades but your routes toward attaining this boil down to two in truth: chucking money at it or time at it. You will pay one price. Which is going to be your weapon of choice?

Let’s look first at ways in which you could pay your way to targeted traffic. Firstly there is pay-per click, or ‘PPC’. Solutions open to you under this heading include Google Adwords, Yahoo! Search Marketing, Bing, Ask, and most increasingly Facebook. In fact Web 2.0 is an increasingly important tool for creating ongoing traffic.

One advantage of PPC is that you can have a campaign up in just minutes, and your ad will be displaying to visitors who specifically clicked on one of your chosen keywords. Traffic doesn’t get much more targeted than that. They want to scratch an itch right now. If you pay enough for your ads or - specifically in Google - write ads that attract 10 or even 15% of visitors to click, you can enjoy guaranteed targeted website traffic almost immediately.

Don’t just send visitors to a website using PPC. Make all your traffic count by sending all visitors to a capture page first where they can opt-in to your subscriber list in return for a free report or mini-series of genuine value to them. You can use PLR (Private Label Rights) to find products like this if you don’t want to create them yourself.

PPC does have a steep learning curve and you must monitor your cost per click and daily spend limit. However, even if you eventually move away from PPC – which I recommend – you’ll get superb statistical information on which keywords pull buyers as well as which ads attract clicks. Split test every ad you write and keep trying to beat the winner. Note the best-performing winning keywords, because you can really leverage that data. Buying ads and banners on relevant e-zines can also be worthwhile. But as with PPC, check results closely, and don't just leave paid advertising unsupervised. You might get a big shock!

Once you have guaranteed targeted website traffic coming to your site, it’s time to set up your unpaid traffic generation campaign. You’ve many choices. You can set up a blog, using Wordpress.org, with the best performing keyword in the url. Post regularly to that blog, with articles optimised around other high-performing keywords. Submit these same articles to top article directories such as ezinearticles.com and goarticles.com.

Look for forums in your niche and post valuable, insightful remarks regularly, including a ‘signature’ link that takes visitors to your blog or to a capture page where you can capture their e-mails.

Keep listbuilding with things like Giveaway events, and using Social media sites like Twitter, Facebook, Bebo, Gather, and LinkedIn. Use social bookmarking sites like Digg.com, Technorati.com, Stumbleupon.com and Furl.com

Some of this traffic can be less targeted, but as long as you are capturing subscriber details, you’ll have many chances to monetise them through your e-mail messages from your Aweber or GetResponse autoresponder.

Guaranteed targeted website traffic needs dedication and persisitence. Your target market is out there though, and if you give people true value and always ask yourself how you can give better service, rather than how you’ll make more money, the right people will gravitate towards you. Educating yourself is the key...........
