GameStop is looking for a few first-class recruits

By: Greg Jackson

It must be that time of year yet again, when everyone is out in quest of gifts for their friends and family. It always seems that the go-to present for some is a gift card or some kind of shower set (here’s a note to guys out there who imagine the bath sets are great ideas: They’re really not; chances are whoever you’re buying the bath set for by now has 20 of them).

Because of the time of year, GameStop is trying to hire 15,000 seasonal employees. The positions are all part time and merely pay minimum wage, but the little bit of money that the store is paying is better than what other individuals are receiving right now: naught.

GameStop does something reminiscent of this each year. It hires this lots of seasonal workers starting in the fall and their time is completed on December 24.

The biggest boost will be the “game advisers” which are the people in the store who are destined to help shoppers pick out video games. There will be 78% more of these than there are at present. Honestly, I have never heard of a game adviser in my local GameStop. The most counsel I have ever received on a game is “That game is very cool.”

You can actually tell how much business the company expects over the holiday season for the reason that the 15,000 seasonal staff means that the employee base for the business goes up by virtually 50%.

This also goes along with more retail stores’ holiday plans. After all, most of the commerce that retail locations do is done over the holiday season.
