Fundraising Ideas

By: Leslie Gotltieb

Whether your organization is well-established or just getting off the ground, chances are you need funds. Paying out of pocket is fine for small ticket items or events, but in most cases, group members cannot afford to carry the weight of every expense. Raising money for a cause, trip or materials will not usually make it to the top of your favorites list, but it doesn't have to be at the bottom either. There are plenty of fundraising ideas that are simple, organized, quick, and easy to execute - you just have to know which one is best for your group.
Large Groups: Groups with lots of members usually have success with direct-sell fundraisers. Members can help foot the bill for the up-front cost, and end up making several times more money than the original fee. The best part of direct-sell fundraising is that there is no follow-up; no need to distribute products, or wait for deliveries. Examples of Direct-sell fundraisers include candy, scratch cards, or custom discount cards.
Small Groups: If your organization has only a few dedicated members trying to raise money, then finding the right fundraising idea is essential. A brochure fundraiser or pre-sell fundraising is the smartest choice for small groups. Find a fundraising program with no minimums, and a reasonable shipping fee. Examples include flower bulbs, coffee and tea, and dry cookie dough mix fundraisers.
School Groups: Whether it's a requirement for a club or a class, or if you're raising money for new band equipment, school groups can raise lots of money through brochure fundraising. Let each individual know what is expected of them from the beginning of the fundraiser, and keep encouraging them to sell more. Great school fundraisers include cookie dough, candles, or the environmentally friendly fundraisers - Go Green.
Sports Groups: Teams and coaches always need more money for uniforms and equipment. Scratch card fundraisers are a great way to get the community involved with a local sports team or little league. The profits are high, the process is easy, and everybody gets something out of it!
Church Groups: Raising money for church may be one of the most difficult tasks?.difficult, but not impossible! If you are raising money for a church event or activity, find a product that works for your supporters. The Walk With Jesus Candle fundraiser offers a reasonable shipping fee (which can be avoided), and a quality product.
No matter what occasion your are raising money, there are fundraising ideas for your and your group!
