Flower Girls: Most Frequently Asked Questions

By: Kaya Collections

We love hearing from you about questions varying from how to accurately measure our child to how do we decide on the right style and color. Here’s a few of those questions and some helpful ideas in order to make your life a little bit easier when planning the big day Q) My bridesmaids dresses have a hard to match color can I add some of that cloth for the %LINK2%? A) Quite frequently, brides want to have the bridesmaids and flower girls correspond exactly with colors and fabrics. There are two ways of accomplishing this.. One is that you can buy some extra fabric from the business that created your bridesmaid dresses (we can calculate how much based on the number of flower girls) and send it to to your dressmaker. We can then use that cloth to make color matching sashes on the flower girl's dresses on the little girls’ dresses. Another choice send us a sampling of the fabric and we can custom match it for you in our silk dupioni fabric collection. Q)The %LINK1% I have selected for my wedding are from a wide range of ages - should they all be wearing the same style and color dress? A) Its wonderful to have a large number of flower girls, regardless of what the age, a large group of flower girls will look really great and all the wedding guests will adore them. Some points to keep in mind. First and foremost, it’s totally up to you! If you want them all dressed in the same style and color - by all means do it, many brides like to keep the color and style matching the same. Or you can choose to change things up slightly, for example, for girls 4 and under you can create an empire waist, girls 5 and up do a natural waist. You can alter the sleeve options (like adding ruffled cap on the little ones). You might also prefer to do a large sash on the bigger girls and a thinner sash on the little ones. There are many ways to make the wedding party dresses customized so everyone is happy. Q) How do I measure my girl and how do I know if they call for a “custom” size? A) Use a flexible measuring tape and measure around the chest, waist, and full height. (Make sure they aren't squirming too much!) Let us know what you get and we’ll let you know whats the most appropriate size, or if it’s most appropriate to do a custom cut size. Bear in mind that our dresses do run true to size so determining the best fit is more often than not the simplest part.
