|What Will the Day be Like?| Is December 21, 2012 going to be a day of doom, the start of universal advancement in consciousness and awareness or just another day, like any day? Is the effect of this day going to be just the day itself , the fact that it is the end of a really really long cycle of time? Or, will the era following Dec 21, 2012 be qualitatively different than time preceding it and thus effect changes in man on a day by day basis. While no one can really predict what will happen on that day, after all even if nothing is destined to happen a really killer earthquake might occur just by happenstance, one thing is certain, the mere contemplation of the end of the vast cycle of time and the beginning of a new cycle, will in and of itself be a truly cosmic event. Why is that? Even a mere year's end gives most people pause for thought as they look back over the best songs of the year, the most popular men and women of the year, the most memorable events of the past year, but a 24,000 year cycle is a beast of different sort. Life has changed drastically in the last 24,000 years. And most certainly, life will change exceedingly drastically, beyond our wildest imagination, within the next 24,000 years. Let us just consider one major change that took place in the last cycle, the invention of writing, and you will see my point. Go back in time some 5,000- 5,700 years to the creation of cuneiform writing in the Middle East. That invention changed life so drastically that in Jewish cosmology, the source of Moslem and Christian cosmology, the event is related temporally to the creation of the Universe. And just think why. take a moment to consider what life was like before man began to make notations on pottery and papyrus. Contemplate any one of your daily activities, and consider how much writing had to take place to make that activity possible. For example, do you travel around in a bus? That bus is the product of tomes of writing that could probably fill a vast library. If you drive an auto, the answer is the same. From the invention of the wheel to the invention of the motor and all the technology and derivatives found in a car there are corresponding books, articles, manuals, etc. If you work in a factory, just consider the number of articles and books that have collectively helped to foster the technology of your industry. And next time you pick up the phone, take a moment to think of all the journal articles, books, diagrams, invention patents that have made that invention possible, not to speak of the related supporting field of electricity, and the myriads of writings in that science. And what about our motivational books, what about the Bible. We couldn't make a move in the modern world without writing. Now go back and try to think of life 5,700 years ago, before writing came into general use. It wasn't life as we know it today, it was a different consciousness, with man's imagination stretching without bounds, or at least stretching out to the source of his next meal. It wasn't a consciousness like we see in the modern world where our attentions are usually pinned down by writings on paper, electronic paper, computer discs, etc. This vast changes in consciousness that took place 5,000-6,000 years ago represent barely a quarter of the astronomical cycle described by the Mayan Calendar, which is about to end within our lifetime. Is it surprising that people talk about the world ending on December 21,2012. It's because the future awaiting us is so fantastic that we can't truly forsee it. As a result, most people are a bit scared by the day when this immense cycle of time will end and a new one will start. While scientists can examine bones and predict that dinosaurs lived on the Earth 200,000,000 years ago, they can't accurately describe the experience of it, because in that era there were no men, there was no speech, no consciousness and communication as we know of it today. When we try to describe ancient history, we project onto the past in the same way that primitive man projected the shape of animals onto the stars of the zodiac. On December 21, 2012, we will all be standing before the vastness of time and space, an experience that renders us all petty and ephemeral creatures. As we face this great cusp in human existence, it is worthwhile listening to the advice of spiritual teachers who are attuned to the voice of the Universe, and have something to say about how mankind should prepare themselves for the experience. Author Great Sun, a California mystic, who studied with another spiritual leader named Friend G has imparted his advice as to how man can best approach and survive this unique time of transition in his book "Super Life Secret Codes," released by Viking Press. Great Sun's message is not a top down type of dictum. He encourages his friends to come into harmony with the Universe, and in that way best benefit from the end of the Mayan cycle, in 2012.
