Buy some extra pieces so that should some of the handles break or wear off in time, you still have the same design to replace it with. You might have chosen a very unique design that might not be available when you need a replacement. Counting how many you need will help you budget how much you will spend for handles.

Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to take off all the pieces holding the door handles of the cabinet. Secure these in a container because you might use those sometime in the future. Put wood filler in the holes if you are changing from door handles to knobs. Do some light sanding with fine-grit sand paper to the hole you just filled. You only need one screw and one hole for knobs to fasten them.

Now you are ready to put your new knobs or new handles. Unpack the handles or knobs and screws and fit them together. If you are using knobs, fix together one screw and the knob on the other side of the cabinet. It will not take you more than five minutes to do this. Tighten the screws of your new knobs or handles using the screwdriver. For all the handles or knobs you need to replace, you only need approximately 20 to 30 minutes to to finish the task.
