Travelling is one of the greatest idea during the Christmas Season. Here's our favourite merry places to visit across the UK along with some of the treats that festive travellers will love.

York

York is a place that has been remarkable for the magical experience that it can give to tourist during Christmas Hotel Breaks. Ice scupltures, sparklling lights, and street entertainment - these are only some of the few things that you will look forward when visitng york.

The celebration usually starts around the 15th of November with late night shopping at the fabulous International Christmas Fayre and St. Nicholas Fayre. You can count on hearing carollers singing Christmas melodies and enjoying the scents of the season like roasted chestnuts and hot chocolate, and of course, meeting with Santa.

Activities include ice skating at the Ice Factor, the Festival of Angels, wonderful pantomimes, amazing music presentations, and ghost tours for the real thrill seekers. You can also visit the Treasurer's House to see who is haunting it this Christmas.

York is a historical place that features many museums like the renowned Yorkshire Museum, York Dungeon and the York Castle Museum. You can even take a tour of the city on the Yorkboat and cruise this truly magical place at Christmastime.

Edinburgh

At Edinburgh, you can see a lot of tourist sites during Christmas time. Among the sparkling fountains, the decked out Edinburgh's Christmas Tree and the unique, realistic Nativity Scene you can enjoy a "White Christmas" at the featured Edinburgh Sparkles Snow Globe.

Do you want some fun and entertainment? Then you should look forward to puppet shows, dance production and music broadcasts in addition to carol concerts. Seeing the singing seals, the amazing otters, the wonderful dolphins and the eye catching orcas is an experience that you shouldn't miss. You might even catch a Shetland pony show.

The Shetland Isles is a perfect place for walking or cycling and taking in the astounding scenery or fishing, playing golf, diving, or kayaking. For the indoor type of activities, there are numerous events like music and culture including historical museums and exhibitions. Around New Years, many people have reported seeing the mysterious Northern Lights from the area.

Keswick

Keswick is a town near the renowned English Lake District, a land of fantastic lakes and graceful mountains. The town's nearby lake, Derwentwater, is believed to be the very lake where King Arthur received Excalibur, his remarkable sword, from the Lady of the Lake. Another famous tourist spot to visit is the Castlerigg Stone Circle which is thought to have been used for druidic religious purposes over 3000 years ago. On top of these historic places, Keswick also has a Traditional Christmas Fayre along with celebrations and festivities, museums, Theatre by the Lake, and numerous outdoor activities.

London

London is one of the world's great capital cities and a breathtaking place to visit over Christmas with too many events to mention. The whole city sparkles with lights and this year Regent and Oxford street intend to coordinate their switching on events to celebrate the premier of Disney's A Christmas Carol. There are a lot of Christmas shows throughout the city including theatre, ballet, and pantomimes on top of many Festive Fairs. Why not combine your Christmas Hotel Break with one of many London theatre hotels? Trafalgar Square is a great place to hear carollers who sing to raise money for a number of charities. London is the place to be if you are hoping for a non-stop variety of things to do over the Christmas season.
