Opening recently was a local star billed stage show called the innocents. And when you look at the stage you will see a picture and this the subject of many strange stories. The one who owned the portrait for so many years prefers to be unknown. As if entranced, this lady stopped her travels, parked her car and instantly bought the picture and up to now she does not know why. Waiting for the clerk to take it from the window, she wondered how can she possibly afford buying that picture. She thought about her kids who were heading back to school, and needed books, clothes and school supplies. So thinking, she told the clerk, I've changed my mind, I just can't afford it even though it's a beautiful picture. Prior to the attendant returning the portrait on the wall, the lady suddenly shouted that she badly wanted it and will get it no matter what happens to her. A problem presented itself for her as she tried to figure how she would explain to her husband her compulsion at buying the photo, and after paying for it she hurried out of the antique store, still not being able to explain to herself how she got it even as she could not even afford it and neither had a need for it. This oil painting was of a Russian wolfhound known as a Borzoi, done between the late 1800's or perhaps the early 1900's. While one find it such an alluring picture, to someone trained to be familiar with the Borzoi, he will wonder why the artist painted his subjects in an almost straight on pose, showcasing only the head and shoulders of the dog. There is no proper proportion when you look closer at the shoulder and chest. Absurd is the fact that even as the woman was extremely familiar with how a Borzoi should look like, she still went ahead and got it. The wife was surprised about how her husband felt so drawn to the painting of the Borzoi the way she was too when she first saw it when she first thought that her husband would get so mad about her overspending instead of spending it for the kids' school needs. Never was there an instance that two photographs of this Borzoi painting developed the same and this has puzzled the owners along with the multitudes of amateurs and experts of photography that took shots of the portrait. They could not decipher how it would be possible that the picture changes all the time for sometimes the dog picture would come out like it was three dimensional and then flat at some times, then there would be instances when it would be in full color then black and white all of a sudden, but the weirdest would be lights playing on its surface as well as some sort of silhouette that was shaped like a face, appearing on the right side of the Borzoi. I don't agree that some sort of entity came with this portrait, perhaps we just imagine so many things and our eyes make us see stuff from sorts of light reflections, shared the husband when he and his wife discussed the possibility of a supernatural force behind the portrait of the Russian wolfhound. Just then a large ceramic plate, which was hanging on the wall, fell with a crash to the floor, without breaking. During the time that director of the playhouse who is also its producer, heard about the portrait, he quickly went to the couple who gladly loaned it to him for it would be perfect for his play which was a story of the supernatural. The couple insisted that there was a supernatural force that accompanied that portrait that entered their home the day they bought it, and the couple hopes that letting this appear in a production such as the Innocents may assist them in discovering what or who it is. At the very least they are hoping this true.
