2012 predictions no longer refer to an event in the distant future. A day that has been looming in the horizon for decades is now just around the corner. While the keyword phrase "2012 predictions" is in breakout status on the Google insight tool, we can already begin to sift the chaff from the grain as we look through the masses of articles posted on the web. Experts in astronomy have clearly and completely refuted any possibility of a devastating astronomical event taking place on December 21, 2012. What will take place on that day is an alignment of the Sun and Earth with the horizontal axis of the Milky Way. This alignment is occurring on the winter solstice, an event which occurs only once in every 25,800 years. However, there is no inherent danger to the Earth, from this celestial configuration. Regarding the danger of tsunamis and earthquakes, there is no evidence that there will be any greater number of these events in 2012 than at any other time. What is true, however, is that with the rise of large urban centers sitting on fault lines and along coastal areas plus the increase in media coverage, there will be more awareness of these events when they occur, and they will tend to be more devastating.. The 2012 wild card is the possibility that nuclear war will break out in the world. One Bulgarian prophetess with a track record of success, Baba Vanga, predicted that a conventional war would start in November of 2010 and it would last for four years and develop into a nuclear war that would devastate the Northern Hemisphere. In November 2010, North Korea attacked South Korea alleging incursions of arms fire into North Korean air space. The incident has led to a war of words which includes threats of South Korean retaliation for any future attacks and North Korean threats of a sacred nuclear war if the incursions continue. Tensions in the area are described as the worst they have been in 60 years. If a war should break out, it is believed that the US and Japan will be allies of South Korea, and China, a major nuclear power, will be at least sympathetic with North Korea. The possible scenario of such a conflict was described by thriller writer Tom Cain. In his scenario, North Korea invades South Korea using tiny tactical nuclear missiles. The US issues an ultimatum to North Korea to withdraw from South Korea. Korea fails to withdrawal and America attacks North Korea with two nuclear missiles. China then comes to the aid of North Korea and destroys an American base in Guam with a nuclear warhead. North Korea has already promised nuclear war in the Korean peninsula if the US continues to support South Korea, and the US plans to do so. So what could stop conflict? It appears to be only a matter of time before nuclear war will break out. If Baba Vanga's prediction about the start of the war proves true, we must consider the likelihood that the war will last for four years, stretching through December 21, 2012, making the end of the Mayan long count calendar a truly troubling period of time. Another spiritual leader who also predicted clamity would strike in 2012 is Friend G. This leader met with Great Sun, author of the recent Viking release "Super Life Secret Codes," for several months in 2005. According to Great Sun, Friend G drew a map of the world and indicated to those in attendance what would happen between 2005 and 2010. He predicted the occurrence of a series of earthquakes and tsunamis, noting the location and time. According to Great Sun, all of Friend G's predictions came true just as he had said! Friend G. also warned about disasters that would take place in 2012, although specifics were not made public. While Baba Vanga'spredictions are carved in stone and conclude with the end of the world in the 57th century, Friend G. urges mankind to reconnect with the Universe before it is too late. That's not to say the prophecies are inconsistent with each other. If the world end's, as predicted by Baba Vanga, all the inhabitants of the Universe will have to connect with a greater reality, like it or not.
